Synopsis *下校（Gekou) : Jap. word for "Coming home from school" Under the influence of Covid-19, people have disappeared from the city. The everyday life of the past has changed into an extraordinary life. However, it is also true that we can now see parts of the world that we could not see in the past. 「下校」 is a work that depicts the extraordinary in the ordinary. I always take the same route home. However, when I take a detour for a trivial reason, I am always stimulated by new discoveries and realizations. Just by walking down a different street, the mundane daily life shifts, and a different world appears. The boundary between the two is very delicate, and what is extraordinary now may one day become ordinary. And vice versa, of course. I tried to capture this sense of boundary coming and going in this work.
Covid-19で街から人が消えた。今までの日常は非日常へと変わった。 だがこれまでの日常では見えなかった部分が見えるようになったことも事実である。 「下校」はそんな日常の中にある非日常を描いた作品。 私はいつも同じ道を通って帰宅する。しかし、些細なきっかけから寄り道をすると、新たな発見、気付きがありいつも刺激を受ける。一本違う道を歩くだけでありふれた日常がゆらぎ、違う世界が現れるのだ。 その境界はとても繊細で、今は非日常でもそれがいつか日常になるかもしれない。もちろんその逆も。この境界の行き来する感覚をこの作品に込めた。
